Where are you now?

________

What do you want?

________

Do you know what stands in your way?

Getting to know the barriers that keep us from living more fulfilling and satisfying lives sets the stage for lasting change.

Once we recognize resistance for what it is … a constellation of distractions, defensive thoughts and beliefs about ourselves … we then check in with the body for more information. If we treat this information from both the mind AND body with respect and curiosity rather than trying to override either one … we will find ourselves at the edge of opportunity.

BACKGROUND

Jane has been a facilitator and coach at The Energy Project, where she has worked with Ernst & Young, Google, Ford Motor Company, LAPD and Sony Pictures Entertainment.

She was also a market research professional specializing in ethnographic research for executive leadership teams at eBay, Kraft, JP Morgan Chase, Frito-Lay, PepsiCo, Johnson & Johnson and many others.

Jane runs a non-profit organization called The Equus Effect, where she works with veterans and others in high stress environments to help build clients’ capacity for healthy, authentic relationships through Somatic Experiencing with horses.

Working with horses through real, ground-based horsemanship skills accelerates the process of both identifying and moving beyond barriers as well as understanding the right use of power in relationships.

So, she includes this opportunity in her offerings to civilian clients for personal and professional growth in group sessions, retreats and one-on-one coaching sessions in Sharon, CT.  (See below.)

I had no idea that I could learn so much about my habitual patterns and behaviors without feeling like there’s something wrong with me.  Rather than trying to ‘get rid of’ the various parts of me that keep me stuck, Jane met them – and me – with compassion, humor and humility that one only experiences with a fellow traveler. The more I learned, the more curious I got.

Jane’s ability to get me comfortable enough to see the opportunities to improve relationships while not rejecting my power was overwhelmingly helpful and has played a huge role in my ability to improve my relationships with team members.  I’m able to redirect my energy in ways that are much more productive without losing touch with my inherent gifts and talents. I really appreciate this work.

It’s one thing to know a system and apply it to a situation.  It’s another to integrate different ones, including the nervous system that clearly has to be ‘on board’ in order for anything to turn into real action.

THE TOOLS

THE TOOLS

__________

THE ENNEAGRAM — A MAP AND A COMPASS

This deep and broad system of personality structure offers both a telescope and a microscope through which to view and understand key motivations, defense mechanisms, blind spots and sensitivities.  By building awareness and offering tools to deconstruct these patterns of thinking, feeling and resulting behaviors, we gain more choice around how we spend our most valuable resources –  energy and attention. We realize both a deeper understanding of ourselves and can have far more tolerance and compassion for others.

__________

SOMATIC EXPERIENCING

In order to put insights into action, we must include the nervous system … meaning the messages from our bodies.  If we are resisting any aspect of the present moment because of our personal or professional histories with stress or unresolved trauma, these must be released.  This is not about stories, but rather about creating space to build our capacity to handle life on life’s terms.  Without the ability to handle triggers with people and situations in our lives, we cannot influence outcomes or build healthy, authentic relationships with others.

__________

INTERNAL FAMILY SYSTEMS

This model of working with parts of ourselves that can be in conflict with one another or at odds with our mature, adult selves is both challenging and essential if we are going to take on any kind of resistance to change.  The key with IFS is to identify and engage – with a great deal of compassion and curiosity – the patterns that keep us stuck in old ways of navigating our lives that no longer serve.  IFS is an elegant, empowering, self-directed model that allows us to create the space where true change can take place.

__________

SOMATIC EXPERIENCING WITH HORSES

For those who are willing and able to meet in person, we include horses in the mix to accelerate the process of resetting the nervous system and building our capacity to handle more situations with grace and ease.  Nothing is more capable of teaching what the right use of power looks or feels like than purposeful engagement horses. The interface between two sentient beings – one small predator and one large prey – is an incredibly potent combination that challenges our assumptions about the true nature of influence and the meaning of authenticity.

THE BOTTOM LINE IS ...

Between stimulus and response there is a space,

And in that space lies our ability to choose our response.

And in that response, lies all our freedom and growth.
